Our History

A journey of faith, resilience, and community building spanning over 90 years.

1930s - The Beginning

The Nation of Islam was founded in 1930 by Master W. Fard Muhammad in Detroit, Michigan. His mission was to teach the Black man and woman of America about their true identity and purpose.

The organization quickly grew under the leadership of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, who became the Messenger of Allah and led the Nation for over 40 years.

1960s - Growth & Influence

During the 1960s, the Nation of Islam experienced significant growth and influence. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad's teachings reached millions through the media and public appearances.

The organization established schools, businesses, and community programs that continue to serve our people today.

1975 - Present

After the passing of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad in 1975, the Nation of Islam continued under the leadership of Minister Louis Farrakhan, who has guided the organization with wisdom and dedication.

Today, we continue to build on our rich legacy, serving communities worldwide and advocating for justice, equality, and spiritual growth.
